MCVFD MAY CONTINUE TO RESPOND TO FIRE & EMERGENCIES WITHIN CITY OF MCLENDON-CHISHOLM
MCLENDON-CHISHOLM, TX, OCTOBER 1, 2018—On Sunday, September 30, 2018, the current contract between the City of McLendon-Chisholm and the McLendon-Chisholm Volunteer Fire Department to provide fire and emergency response services within the city limits of McLendon-Chisholm expired.
On Friday, the City was notified by the McLendon-Chisholm Volunteer Fire Department that MCVFD can no longer guarantee fire and emergency response for the City of McLendon-Chisholm. However, If the Rockwall County Sheriff’s Office dispatches the MCVFD to an emergency within the city limits, the MCVFD may respond. If MCVFD does respond, the MCVFD will invoice the City of McLendon-Chisholm for each response.
The City Council has invited MCVFD to continue contract negotiations and negotiations are ongoing at this time. The City Council is optimistic negotiations will soon conclude favorably and that a contract will be available for consideration when the City Council convenes for a Special Meeting on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. where action on the contract is on the Agenda.
